Lasers are becoming increasingly popular in today’s growing medical, optical, aerospace and electronics industries. Master Bond’s vast product line includes one and two component epoxies, silicones, polyurethanes and UV-curable adhesives that can be used in various types of laser applications. Our optical products are specially formulated to provide excellent light transmission characteristics, maximize resistance to adverse environmental conditions and are carefully processed to exclude contaminants. Master Bond adhesives are also available in high temperature resistant versions which are environmentally friendly, containing no solvents or diluents. As a custom-formulator manufacturer, we are able to formulate our products with different viscosities, cure speeds, flexibility, heat and chemical resistance, insulation and conductivity properties to best meet your application needs.
Master Bond is involved in the following types of laser applications:
- Aircraft guidance
- Barcode readers
- Laser accelerometers
- Optical communications
- 3D laser scanners
- Consumer and Industrial imaging equipment
- Laser printers
- Laser drilling
- Lighting displays
- Surgery
- Data storage
- Spectroscopy
Adhesives can be precisely applied in the desired bond line thickness to assure exact alignment of components with minimal fixturing. Products are engineered to bond well to metal, glass, ceramic, composite, plastic surfaces including substrates with different thermal coefficients of expansion and contraction. Low refractive index compounds have been used in delicate assembly operations to mate irregular shaped dissimilar materials in tight clearances. UV curable no mix systems are now available for rapid curing and meet NASA ASTME-595 low outgassing specifications. Most noteworthy has been the development of two component epoxy adhesives that exhibit low linear/volumetric shrinkage, high dimensional stability and ultra low coefficients of thermal expansion. These cost effective bonding agents also have superior wetting properties, an attractive Tg and chemical/solvent humidity resistance.
Aesthetic Lasers
Aesthetic lasers have gained popularity for a wide range of treatments. Unlike cosmetic surgery, they are non-invasive, fast healing, less likely to cause scarring/discoloration, more convenient and reduce the risk of pain/infection. Our formulations are employed by leading manufacturers on a wide range of ablative and non-ablative lasers such as:
- Carbon dioxide lasers
- Nd YAG lasers
- Long pulsed Nd YAG lasers
- Pulsed dye lasers
- Non-ablative lasers
- Intense pulse light
- Fractional ablative carbon dioxide lasers
- Q-switched Nd: YAG
- IPL (Intense Pulse Light)
Medical Lasers
Medical lasers are frequently utilized by well trained healthcare professionals in many diverse procedures, treatments, therapies, surgeries, diagnostics. These devices emit high intensity, narrow beam light in a specific wavelength and are capable of targeting with pinpoint accuracy tiny locations. This allows treatment of tissues without risk to surrounding areas. Laser light is unique because it is monochromatic, coherent and highly directional. From urology, gastroenterology, cardiology, dentistry to gynecology, dermatology, ophthalmology, orthopedics, neurosurgery and cosmetic surgery, medical laser systems have been most effective in upgrading patient outcomes safely. As eye disorders in the geriatric population grow significantly, medical lasers have made profound, far-reaching progress in refractive eye surgery, macular degeneration, glaucoma, retinal tears and detachment, cataract treatment, diabetic retinopathy. Other extraordinary, all-important contributions made by medical lasers in patient care are:
- cleaning clogged arteries
- remove kidney stones
- endodontic/periodontic procedures
- treat varicose veins
- shrink or destroy tumors, polyps
- prostatectomy
- optical coherence tomography (OCT)
- early detection of breast cancer
- remove scars, wrinkles, hair
- spinal decompression
- peripheral joint surgery
- wound healing
- chronic skin diseases
- bladder obstructions
- cartilage reshaping
- pain reduction
- deep tendinitis and sprains
