Product Description

Master Bond UV26DCMed is a dual-cure epoxy system designed for medical applications. It utilizes UV light for the initial cure and heat to fully polymerize areas not directly exposed to UV. Upon exposure to UV light at 320–365 nm with an energy intensity of 20–40 milliwatts/cm², cross-linking occurs rapidly in those areas exposed to the light, with faster cures achievable at higher energy outputs. To ensure complete polymerization, heat must be applied at 110–125°C for 60–90 minutes. Post curing at 120–150°C for 1–2 hours is strongly recommended to optimize physical strength, chemical resistance, and glass transition temperature. In fact, longer heating will further improve these properties. This process ensures thorough and reliable curing, even in complex geometries.

UV26DCMed bonds well to a wide variety of substrates including metals, glass, ceramics and most plastics. It is highly resistant to acids, bases, solvents, and numerous sterilants. These include ethylene oxide, gluteraldehyde, and an array of hydrogen peroxide systems including STERRAD™. Additionally it withstands repeated steam autoclaving. UV26DCMed is a lower viscosity system with exceptionally low shrinkage and outstanding dimensional stability. It is not oxygen inhibited. It is a superb electrical insulator, and is able to withstand rigorous thermal cycling. The service temperature range is -60°F to +500°F. UV26DCMed is recommended for medical device manufacturing, particularly for reusable instruments that require repeated sterilization, especially autoclaving and aggressive liquid sterilants.
